El Padre Gray ofrece Misa de Acción de Gracias por su ordenación

SALT LAKE CITY — El domingo 30 de junio cientos de fieles católicos llenaron la Catedral de la Magdalena en Salt Lake City para acompañar al reciente ordenado Padre Christopher P. Gray en la celebración de las Misas de Acción de Gracias. La primer Misa fue oficiada en inglés y la segunda en español. En ambas misas el Padre Gray seleccionó piezas musicales tales como ‘Cantus Missae’ y ‘O sacrum convivium’.

Senate passes immigration bill

SALT LAKE CITY — The United States Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill June 27 with a 68-32 vote, with support from Utah Senator Orrin Hatch. That afternoon, hundreds of people gathered at the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building in downtown Salt Lake City for a prayer vigil in thanksgiving, to support immigration reform as it heads to the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.

Last week, the Senate passed an immigration reform bill that, if enacted by the full Congress, will provide a path to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living and working in the United States. Before that can happen, the House of Representatives must pass a bill as well. As the bill wends its way through the process, a key question continues to be ignored: why people risk arrest, detention and deportation to come across the U.S.-Mexico border.
