(From right) Carlos Riazuelo, conductor, and Alfonso Tenreiro receive applause after Tenreiro’s piece “Remembrance” was played by the Louisiana State University Symphony Orchestra at the First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge Sept. 16. Tenreiro, the music director at St. Joseph Catholic School in Ogden, was commissioned to write the piece for the LSU Symphony Orchestra. Tenreiro joined the LSU School of Music as an associate professor and director of orchestral studies in 2009, while keeping his work as guest conductor with professional groups.
