The Gift of Reading

As part of the national Read Across America campaign, Kindergarten students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School shared the gift of reading with the 3-year-old preschool class.

As part of the national Read Across America campaign, Kindergarten students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School shared the gift of reading with the 3-year-old preschool class. Each kindergartner colored and read an emergent reader to a younger preschool buddy, taking the skills they’ve learned in class and teaching them to the younger students, tracking the words in the book as they read aloud and helped sound out more difficult words. Afterward, the kindergartners gave the book to the younger students as a gift.
