Students provide service

SALT LAKE CITY — The eighth grade class at Kearns-Saint Ann School chose sorting and packing cans at the Utah Food Bank as their service project this year. In addition, they presented Hayley Greer, of the Utah Food Bank with a check for $900, of which $383 came from the eighth-grade spook alley fund raiser, and the remainder from the faculty and staff in lieu of their annual Christmas gift exchange.

During the month of November, the entire student body also collected canned food items to donate to Catholic Community Services.

The mission of Kearns-Saint Ann School, in partnership with parents, is to provide a quality Catholic education, which nurtures a deep love of God, academic excellence, respect, responsibility, and Christian values, which guides students to serve others. Throughout the school year, the students do just that in the form of service to the elderly at CHRISTUS Saint Joseph Villa and Avalon Retirement Center. Every month the students visit and sing for the residents and share stories with them. It is the highlight of both the elderly and also of the young students’ day.
