KEARNS — Saint Francis Xavier Regional School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade Catholic School. The school is dedicated to educating our diverse ethnic and socio-economic student population in partnership with family, Church, and community in a Catholic Environment. Our alumnae have attended such universities such as Notre Dame, Catholic University, Gonzaga, University of Loyola-Chicago, Northeastern and Boston University.

The school teaches the students the importance of service. Every month the school performs a service project in which the students learn the importance of giving back to the community. Each Thanksgiving the students bring food items to provide a Thanksgiving Dinner for our families who are less fortunate. At Christmas the school either participates in the Gift of the Drummer Program or candy cane corner, who both give clothes and necessities to those who are in need, we also donated men’s socks each year to the Saint Vincent de Paul Center and Invisible Children.

The school theme this year is everyday heroes. Matt Minkevitch, executive director of the Road Home, spoke to the middle school students about the homeless population and how the homeless people are true everyday heroes because they struggle on a daily basis to provide the basic necessities for their families. This year we collected blankets for the Road Home.

Our students meet monthly for family activities, which consist of students from various grades working together on a project. A seventh or eighth grade student leads each family. After hearing Minkevitch speak the families made scarves for the homeless children.
