NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Holy Cross Sister Christine Healy (M. Edwin), 86, died Sept. 2. Sr. Christine was born in San Francisco, Calif., to Patrick Healy and Ruth Ricci Healy. She trained to be a teacher and taught for 23 years in elementary schools in Utah, California, Idaho, and Washington. At times during those years, Sr. Christine served as principal, religious superior, and teacher. She spent three years caring for her mother and returned to elementary education for another nine years. Sister was the diocesan superintendant of elementary schools for the Diocese of Fresno, and was the founder and director of the Holy Cross Center for Women in Fresno. In 1999, she returned to St. Mary’s Convent in Notre Dame, where she served in prayer ministry until her death. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, at St. Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, Ind.
