SALT LAKE CITY — Each year, as part of The Hope Benefit, the Friends of St. Joseph Villa present the Continuum of Care Award to compassionate and giving members of the community. This year on April 14 at Little America Hotel the Continuum of Care Award will be presented to Scott S. Parker.

Parker is President Emeritus of Intermountain Healthcare (IHC). He was named president of IHC on April 1, 1975, when the nonprofit health care system was formed. He served in that position until his retirement in 1998.

Under his direction, IHC has been named the number-one integrated health care organization in the United States by Modern Healthcare magazine and the SMG research firm. Parker received his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Utah in 1960 and his master of hospital administration degree in 1962 from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

He also serves or has served on a number of other corporate boards, including the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, First Security Corporation, B.M.W. Bank of North America, and Questar Corporation, among others.

This year St. Ann Parish in Salt Lake City will also be honored for their history of support for St. Joseph Villa.

The Hope Benefit, which takes place on April 14, 2009, will feature a dinner ($100 a plate) and a Silent and Live Auction with proceeds going to the Charity Care Fund.
