Sam Skaggs laid to rest

During the Mass of Christian Burial for Sam Skaggs on March 27, the Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, said, "Sam knew that God loved him, and Sam loved others in return. That love was expressed in his devotion to his family, his commitment to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, his care for his employees, his passion for education, his desire heal the sick, his shunning of personal honors or acclaim, and his dedication to his faith, his service to his country, and his legacy of humility." Among the many who attended were students from Utah Catholic Schools; Bishop Wester said the students were symbolic of the many beneficiaries of the generosity of the Skaggs’ family, who will never know all the good wrought by their donations and scholarships.
