OGDEN — Saint Joseph Catholic Elementary School hosted an Under the Big Top Circus Math Night on Oct. 9. Families gathered to have a fun evening with a variety of circus-themed math activities suited for students from preschool to eighth grade. Each grade hosted their own math activity, such as ring toss addition, monkey money match up, petting zoo pipe cleaners with 3D shapes and circus peanut product games. The math night, which was attended by about 300 people, reinforced the importance of math in students’ everyday activities. Teachers play a vital role in teaching math fundamentals and shaping students’ positive attitudes toward math.  The night also provided fun ideas for parents to incorporate math in family games at home.
During the evening, teachers dressed up as circus performers, including a ring master, clowns and monkeys. Our students and families were very excited to participate in the evening’s event.
