Knights and Ladies! On Oct. 2, in the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony, KGCHS, Grand Prior and His Eminence Cardinal John Foley, Grand Master, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre promoted 59 knights and ladies to the rank of Knight/Lady Commander, Knight/Lady Grand Officer and Knight/Lady Grand Cross in the Order at the Western USA Lieutenancy’s Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. Promotees from the Diocese of Salt Lake City are Sir Lawrence Cochran and Lady Diane Cochran.

Order at the Western Lieutenancy! On Oct. 3, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre invested 96 knights and ladies with membership in the Order at the Western Lieutenancy’s Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. They represent the largest investiture class in 10 years. Investees from the Diocese of Salt Lake City are Rev. Sir Patrick Elliott, Lady Diane Kawamura, Sir Melvin Leibsla, and Lady Barbara Leibsla.

The 900 year-old Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is an association of the Christian faithful, entrusted with a special mission from the Holy Father to sustain and aid the charitable, cultural, social works and Christian communities of the Holy Land, particularly those of and in the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem with which the Order maintains traditional ties. It is governed by the ordinary regulations of Canon Law, the dispositions of the Church, and the rules of its own Constitution all of which aim to strengthen among its members the practice of Christian life.

The Western USA Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order comprises the four (arch) dioceses of Southern California and the dioceses of Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and Honolulu.
