Oreste O. Mirabelli

SALT LAKE CITY — Oreste O. Mirabelli, 87, died Oct. 25. He was a member of Saint Ann Parish.

Mirabelli was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Rizzuti, Italy, to Domenic and Rose Mirabelli. At age 12, he arrived in the United States with his mother and sister to join his father and older brothers. He later served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant. After the war he returned to work as a garage mechanic, then worked for George Jenkins at the Mill End for 15 years. He was employed at Frank Granato Importing where he retired after 30 years.

Oreste married Irene Colosimo July 3, 1949, and they raised their family in Salt Lake City. Although he was a man of very few words, he touched everyone he met with his quiet dignity. He enjoyed all sports, and was an amazing Italian cook. He was a member of the Italian Civic League, and volunteered for the Allstate Italian Lagoon Day. He also prepared spaghetti for the Footprinters Annual Spaghetti Dinner at Saint Vincent de Paul Center. He also volunteered at the Sports Complex at Saint Ann Church tossing hamburgers.

He is survived he is wife, Irene; daughter, Rosemarie (Richard); son, Ron (Sherrie); grandchildren, Chantel (Shane), Krystal, Dominic, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Brenden, and Kysen; brother, Mario; sister-in-law, Josephine; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church.
