Clara Jane DeCarlo

OGDEN — Clara Jane DeCarlo, 82, died Sept. 14, 2010.

DeCarlo was born Aug. 1, 1928, to Raymond and Mary Hebbeler in Norwood, Ohio. She graduated from Regina Catholic High School and continued her education in nursing at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. Her nursing career crisscrossed the U.S. from the East Coast to the West Coast. In Utah, she worked for Brigham City Hospital, Saint Benedict’s Hospital, the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City, and she retired from Ogden Regional Hospital. She helped others through nursing, but her greatest love and ultimate dedication was her family.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph DeCarlo; five sons: Edward, Joseph (Jodi); Michael (Debbie), Thomas, Robert; and two daughters: Mary Jane (Joseph) Ringel and Patricia (Todd) Konieczki; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters Rosemary Dineen, Sister Virginia Hebbeler and Anna Mae Fletcher.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint James Catholic Church. Interment was in Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.

Adelido Lucero

MIDVALE — Adelido Lucero, 71, died at home Aug. 28, 2010.

Lucero was born May 18, 1939, in Durango, Colo., to Eufresia (Abeyta) and Lucas Lucero. He grew up in Dragerton, Utah, with a sister and three brothers. He married Gloria Saldivar on July 21, 1962, at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, where he was a life-long member. He worked at a variety of jobs to provide for his family and made many friends. Though he suffered with many ailments, he retained his true personality to the end.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons Frank, Rey and Layne Adelido; grandchildren Rachel, Serenity and Amy; sister Mary Howell; brother Lucas; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Interment was in the Midvale City Cemetery.

Cosme Lovato

SALT LAKE CITY — Cosme (Cosmo) Lovato, 91, died Sept. 22, 2010.

Lovato was born Nov. 11, 1918 in Sopris, Colo., to Samuel and Lucy Adams Lovato. He worked as a young boy for the local mines and farms in Helper, Royal and Standardville. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps during the 1930s depression.

He married Mary Jane Garcia in May 1942 in Raton, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He worked the coal mines of Carbon County. He moved his family to Salt Lake City, where he worked construction and later for the school district, where he retired. He was an honest man who loved his wife and family.

He is survived by his daughters Bernadine Blok and Irene (Phil) May; and son Ronald (Shawna) Lovato; grandson Gary Madrid; granddaughters Katrina Rivera, Amy (Chris) Tyler, Mandee (Kenny) Neff and Dani (Brandon) Russell; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Committal was in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Tempora Rojas

SALT LAKE CITY — Tempora Rojas, 91, died at home Sept. 25, 2010.

Rojas was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Isebel and Guillerma Tapia Ruiz. She spent her life raising, serving and loving her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, drawing, crocheting and sitting on the porch admiring the neighbor’s roses.

She is survived by her son Eduardo (Stella) Rojas; daughter Gloria Rendon; step-children Marcos Rojas, Leo (Gerry) Rojas, Delores (Jose) Garcia; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Committal was in Redwood Memorial Cemetery.

Skyler Ray Benavidez

TAYLORSVILLE — Skyler Ray Benavidez, 22, died Sept. 23, 2010.

Benavidez was born Nov. 6, 1987 in Salt Lake City to Joe and Kris Benavidez. He was raised by his grandmother, Pearl Beanvidez. He graduated from Taylorsville High School and Salt Lake Community College as a certified emergency medical technician.

He had a smile that would light up a room, and he was a friend to everyone. He loved to ride his bullet bike, golf with his dad, draw and spend time with his family. He was his grandmother Pearl’s pride and joy, and admired by all. He loved working at Interstate Image with his dad and friends and was happy to make shop supervisor and see his art all over the valley.

He is survived by his father, Joe (Kris) Benavidez; grandmother/mom Pearl Benavidez; siblings Scott Kendall, Kami Kendall and Jeskya Hymas; Uncle Frank (Bobbie Jo) Brighton, Micah and Ezra Benavidez; Aunt Rachelle Nate and her children Benjamin, Brennan and Anna Benavidez; and many extended family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Interment was in Valley View Memorial Park.

Daniel M. Garcia Romero

SALT LAKE CITY — Daniel M. Garcia Romero, 62, died Sept. 24, 2010.

Romero was born June 16, 1948 in Temosacih, Chih, Mexico, to Hermenegilda and Blas Garcia. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood and lived a plentiful life with his wife, children, family and friends. He was a devoted member of the Catholic community and will be remembered as a compassionate, caring good humored and hardworking person.

He is survived by his wife Maria; children Luz, Ofelia, Irma, Ricardo, Daniel, and Analilia; his father; eight grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
