Max T. Gomez

SALT LAKE CITY — Max T. Gomez, 82, died at his home in Salt Lake City on Aug. 14, 2010.

He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Lumberton, N.M., to Gregorita Ulibarri and Antonio Gomez. He married Jennie Rendon Aug.19, 1950. He was a simple, humble man who lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie; three daughters Delilah (Jake) Ortega, Sandra Sitz (Ray Stuart) and Stella (Stan) Palmer; brother A.C. (Gerri) Gomez.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church.

Felix Silva Gallegos

OGDEN— Felix Silva Gallegos, 77, died due to complications from a stroke Sept. 22, 2010.

Gallegos was born May 18, 1933, in Floresville, Texas, to Marcelo Silva and Josepha Garcia Silva. The Silva family moved to Corinne, Utah in 1938, and lived there a year before moving to Brigham City, where she attended school. She was active in her church and worked for the IRS for 30 years before retiring in 1995.

She was loved by her family and friends. Her contagious laughter and dimples will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Benito Joe Gallegos; two daughters Lisa Marie Gallegos, and Christina Gallegos; two sisters Juana Silva and Estelle Silva.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint James Catholic Church. Interment was in Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.

Janina Rybicki

DRAPER — Janina Rybicki, 89, died Oct. 12, 2010.

Rybicki was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Hamtramck, Mich., to Joseph and Felicia Bielawski. She served in the Women’s Marine Corps during World War II where she attained the rank of staff sergeant. She married Stephen Rybicki on June 15, 1948, in Hamtramck, Mich. They lived in Warren, Mich., for 55 years, where they raised their three children. They later moved to Rochester, N.Y., and then to Sandy, Utah, to be near family.

She worked in data processing, while caring for three children and living an active social life. She was gifted in baking, sewing, knitting and jewelry making; creating one-of-a-kind designs for herself and her family. She used her talents to make baby blankets, quilts and booties for children in need. She a was a devout Catholic, and will be greatly missed.

Rybicki is survived by her husband, Stephen; children Vincent (Margaret) Rybicki, Celeste (Dave) VanderMey and Natalie (Bill) Kelly; grandchildren Stephanie, Andrea, Jeanette, Kristen, Elizabeth and Stephen; and sister-in-law Cathryn "Rose" Wyman.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment was in the Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park at Camp Williams.

Louise P. Cuch

FORT DUCHESNE — Louise Pawwinnee Cuch, 78, died Oct. 14, 2010 at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Cuch was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Ouray, Colo., to John and Elise Cohoe Pawwinnee. She married Henry T. Cuch June 28, 1956, in Elko, Nev. He died March 12, 2009.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, growing flowers, cooking and baking wonderful rolls and bread. She loved the Hill Creek area where she grew up and always enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping and riding horses. She was a fan of the New York Yankees.

She worked for the Ute Tribe for nearly 40 years in the Community Action-Head Start program, as a community health rep, and in the housing department. She loved her family and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Radford V. Cuch, Edwin Napia (adopted son), both of Salt Lake City; Carlisle D. Cuch, Ft. Duchesne; Terrance M. (Felecia) Cuch, Gusher, Lori A. Cuch, Robert C. (Lelilah) Pawwinnee, Doreen M. Cuch, all of Fort Duchesne; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters Nancy Pawwinnee Randlett and Sally Box; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Helen Catholic Church in Roosevelt. Burial was in the Fort Duchesne Cemetery.

Josephine L. Borla

HELPER — Josephine L. Borla, 80, died at her home Oct. 15, 2010. She was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish.

Borla, known as "Jo" or "Josie," was born in Glenwood, Colo., on June 2, 1930. She was a resident of Helper for 61 years. She married Walter Borla in Elko, Nev., on July 2, 1950; they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She graduated from Glenwood Springs High School where she was a varsity cheerleader. She was a stay-at-home mom and never missed any of her children’s activities. She was a wonderful cook and accumulated many recipes from her Slovenian heritage and her husband’s Italian heritage. She was a member of Helper’s Italian American Lodge, Stella D’America and of the Helper Variety Club for 58 years, which was a group of neighbor ladies who met monthly. She loved to travel with her husband throughout Europe and the United States. She was an excellent bowler and Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and Utah Jazz fan.

She is survived by her husband Walter; two daughters Marilyn (Ron) Magann and Carolyn (Dale) Woodbury; two sons Jim (Summer) and John (Millie); six grandchildren Jasmine Borla, Adam Dunn, Zachary and Jake Borla, Tyler and Nicole Woodbury; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Jo Borla; brother Robert (Carol) Simillion; and friend Merlene Kirkwood.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Burial was in the Mountain View Cemetery.
