SANDY — Mickey Thompson, 65, died March 2, of congestive heart failure.

Thompson was born July 10, 1943, in Salt Lake City to Alvin Leroy Thompson and Stella Lucille Simpson. He attended Granger High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Kennecott Copper Corporation, and retired after 20 years. He married Melody Ann Gilbride Knudsen in September 1993. He loved to work with power tools and wood, and made many special projects for his family. He was a gentle, kind, and very generous individual.

He is survived by his wife Melody; sons, Shaun, Corey (Marie), Jayson (Rachael), and Ty Thompson; two step-children, Brian Lee Knudsen and Amy (Rob) Witmer; brothers, Abbie (Joann), William, and Tommy; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, an aunt, uncle, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
