Linus E. Brown

SALT LAKE CITY — Linus E. Brown, 87, died Sept. 12. He was a member of Saint Ann Parish.

Brown was born May 1, 1921, to Edward C. and Mary F. Brown. He was raised in Salt Lake City and was a 1939, graduate of Judge Memorial Catholic High School. He attended Healds Electrical College in San Francisco, Calif. He enlisted in the Army during World War II in 1942, and was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division 506 Infantry. He was awarded the Purple Heart, a symbol of courage that he exemplified and cultivated throughout his life. He was a journeyman electrician and retired from U.S. Steel Corporation. He was a devout Catholic, and a Third Order Franciscan. He volunteered at the Saint Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen for many years. He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; five children, Mary, Jim (Kim), Barbara (Marlin) Struhs, Joe (Margaret), Teresa (Russell) Bell; and five grandchildren, Katie, Sam, Ian, Rachel, and Daniel.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
