SALT LAKE CITY — Leonard Venable Lacey, 91, passed away Sept. 11, 2013 from complications due to a fall. Lacey was born in Bartow County, Ga. on March 30, 1922. He left home at 17 to join the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC). After Pearl Harbor, he joined the Navy as a radar operator. He married Patricia in 1944. After he retired from a career in the U.S. Postal Service, Leonard returned to his roots in Adairsville, Ga. and moved to Salt Lake City in 2007. Lacey is survived by sons Lerry (Cindy), Lee (Vanessa); daughters Joann (Bob) Henzey and Jackie (Patrick) Swigart; and sister Joyce (Earl) Culberson; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lacey was preceded in death by wife Patricia; daughter Joyce and grandson Zenrick. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
