SALT LAKE CITY — All the classes at Kearns St. Ann School reached their fund raising goals for the October Monster Bash ’07. The students raised $34,200.45. Tom and Mary McCarthey matched the students earnings bringing the grand total to $68,400.90. The students were awarded trophies and prizes at an assembly Nov. 28.

"This year the sixth and seventh grade classes had a competition going to see who could bring in the most money selling tickets for prizes," said Christen Freeman," Kearns-St. Ann advancement director. "The seventh grade class brought in the most with $7,006.12, and the sixth grade class brought in $6,112.06. The fourth grade class brought in $3,047.20.

Seventh-grader Dexter Holmquist brought in the most for one student with $3,074, followed by sixth grader Emma Smith-Kitterer with $2,600, and in third place was seventh grader Gerald Garcia with $1,664.

At the assembly, after the final tally was made, the students thanked God for their parents, the staff and teachers, and all of their blessings he gives them every day.

"And last but not least," said Principal Kathleen Hood, "I want to thank the most important people, and that is all of you students. You students are the most important people we are celebrating today for all of your help during our benefit. We know we surpassed this year with ticket sales and everything about our benefit. We raised a lot more money than we ever have in the past, and it is in large part through all your efforts and all your parents’ efforts. Congratulations on a wonderful job.

As a result of raising the most money, the seventh grade class challenged the staff and faculty to a volley ball game following the assembly. The game ended in a tie.
