Judge Memorial CHS alumna named a 2015 Truman Scholar

Erin Dugan, Judge Memorial Catholic High School Class of 2012, has been selected as a 2015 Truman Scholar. 
The other nominee from Utah was also a Judge graduate, Matthew Kirkegaard, Class of 2011, now an undergraduate at the University of Utah.
The 58 new Truman Scholars, mostly college juniors, were selected from among 688 candidates nominated by 297 colleges and universities. They were chosen on the basis of their’ academic success and leadership accomplishments, as well as their likelihood of becoming public service leaders.
Each new Truman Scholar receives up to $30,000 for graduate study. 
Dugan, a student at the University of Delaware, is majoring in public policy with minors in economics and public health. She has served as an intern in Governor Jack Markell’s Office of Federal Affairs in Washington, D.C.; The Wellness Plan Medical Centers in Detroit, Mich.; and Alliance for a Better Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. On campus, she is the Operations Coordinator for University of Delaware Alternative Breaks, a teaching assistant and a Writing Fellow. She hopes to work on health policy at the federal level after obtaining an advanced degree.
While at Judge, Dugan was a National Merit Finalist and member of National Honor Society and the State Math team. She served as co-editor of the Bulldog Press, was on Peer Ministry, and was a scholar-athlete throughout her high school career. A member of the girls’ soccer and track and field teams, she also received a prestigious Alumni Club Book Award from Wellesley College and earned Presidential Service Awards for her community outreach efforts. 
Prior to enrolling at Judge, she attended J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School.
