SALT LAKE CITY — Juan Hernandez, 105, died Sept. 30. Hernandez was born Dec. 8, 1902, in Hacienda de Guadalupe, Jalisco, Mexico, to Esteban and Maria Salazar Hernandez. He raised his family in the community of Buena Vista, Utah. He married Maria Louise Juarez May 27, 1920. She died Aug. 1974. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for more than 40 years. Afterwards he worked for the Salt Lake City Parks Department for 20 years. His favorite hobby was planting flowers in his garden. He is survived by his children, Alice (Manuel) Gonzales, Lou (Connie) Hernandez, Delores Gonzales, Jenny Garcia, Nellie Mofford, and Steven Hernandez; brother, Jesus; 49 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and 122 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
