John W. Morton

SALT LAKE CITY — John W. Morton, 87, passed away Jan. 3, 2014.

Morton was born Nov. 14, 1926 to William and Alice Morton. He married his Carole on May 17, 1946. He attended Judge Memorial Catholic School for 10 years and then graduated from South High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Salt Shakers and served on the board of Utah Retailers. In 1972, he became partners with Elliott Wolfe and they opened the Copper Rivet Co.

Morton is survived by three children: Doug (Keren), Larry (Jeniffer Ayoub) and Debby Morton Fleisch (Michael); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brother Bill, and sister Eileen.

 

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.
