Notre Dame, Ind. — Sister M. Ann Patrice, CSC (Winifred McGinley) died Dec. 29, 2013 at Saint Mary’s Convent.

Patrice was born March 26, 1912 in Fruita, Colo., the youngest of five girls. She enrolled in Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City. She became an RN in 1934 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree. In 1940 she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and in 1942 began 46 happy years in hospital ministry in Utah and California, including 10 years at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City.

She had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary. She prayed this special prayer with the sisters when they gathered in the social area on her floor.

After a bout with cancer she was unable to do bedside nursing, but she continued hospital ministry, and learned the skills needed to become a pharmacy assistant and an EEG technologist. In 1984 she went to work at Holy Cross Hospital in San Fernando, Calif.

She moved to Saint Mary’s in 1993 and continued to serve through the Ministry of Prayer.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 3, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto in Notre Dame.
