Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Holladay hosted a special Mass on July 16 to celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Father Christopher Gray presided at the Mass. Afterward, those who wished were enrolled in the confraternity of the Brown Scapular. When Our Lady appeared to Simon Stock in 1251, she gave the Carmelite saint a brown woolen scapular and promised that anyone who died while wearing it would not suffer eternal fire.
