Deborah Ann Long Miyazaki

SALT LAKE CITY — Deborah Ann Long Miyazaki, 56, died April 18, after years of suffering.

Miyazaki was born March 3, 1953, to Dr. Robert and Evelyn Long at Fort Ord, Calif. She was a graduate of Skyline High School and earned two degrees from Westminster College, one from the College of Nursing. She received a Master’s Degree from the University of Utah in 1994. She married Arthur Miyazaki in October 1980, and had one son, Arther Robert Tomonobu Miyazaki, who was the love of her life. Nursing was her passion in life and the career she followed in her mother’s footsteps. She started at St. Mark’s Hospital in ICU, and rose through the ranks to nurse recruiter for the University of Utah. She was appointed to the Board of Nursing by the governor and had an internship at the Utah Nurses Association. She was an adjunct professor of nursing at Westminster College. She lived dually in Salt Lake City and San Diego, Calif.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur; son, Arthur, Jr., brother, Stuart (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
