Mentors Needed — Two male inmates at the Draper prison have specifically asked for Catholic mentors through the Utah Department of Corrections mentoring program. Through this program, mentor couples (or two mentors of the same gender as the inmate) guide the inmate through a planning process to help them succeed upon release.  Once released from prison, the mentors continue to serve the inmate helping him or her make the connections they need to get work, housing, etc.  The Department of Corrections provides extensive training and resources for the mentors.  Only non-violent offenders qualify for the mentoring program. For information about serving as a mentor, contact Jean Hill, government liaison for the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, 801-456-9336 or jean.hill@dioslc.org.
