LENTEN ACTIVITIES 
Fat Tuesday celebration, Feb. 17, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church social center, 514 24 St., Ogden; 6 p.m. No cost. Those attending are asked to bring a salad or desert; the main dish is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
Ash Wednesday 
Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC: 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. in English; 8 p.m. in Spanish.
St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., 1058 West 400 South, Salt Lake City. Fish dinner, 7 p.m. in the social hall. Advanced tickets: $8/adults, $5/children; contact the parish office, 801-596-7233. Dinners the day of the dinner are an increased price, while supplies last.

St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden: 5:30 p.m. in English, 7 p.m. in Spanish. A bowl of meatless hot soup will be served to everyone in the social hall after the English Stations of the Cross. Donations will be accepted to support the jail ministry.

Cathedral Holy Week 
The Cathedral of the Madeleine will celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. Compline will follow at 9 p.m., then Veneration of the Eucharist from 9:15 p.m. to midnight. On Good Friday, April 3, the Passion of the Lord will be in English at noon, followed at 3 p.m. by the choral meditation “Stabat Mater.” Stations of the Cross in English will be at 5:30 p.m. The Passion of the Lord in Spanish will be at 7 p.m. On Holy Saturday, the Sacrament of Penance will be offered from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Vespers will be sung at 6 p.m. The Easter Vigil Mass will be at 8:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, Mass will be celebrated in English at 8 and 10 a.m. and noon. Mass in Spanish will be at 3 p.m. Vespers and Benediction will be at 5 p.m.  
Other 
The Dynamic Catholics are inviting others to join their study of the Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic by Matthew Kelly on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. in Saint Joseph Catholic Church’s social hall, 514 24th St., Ogden, for a study on becoming the best version of ourselves. Some books will be available free of charge. The discussion will begin promptly after the Stations of the Cross and soup dinner.
 
DIOCESAN ACTIVITIES 
Aquinas Institute Speaker — Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Evans Black Box Theatre, Saint Joseph Catholic High School, 1790 Lake St., Ogden. Kase D. Johnstun will present and perform a reading of Beyond the Grip of Craniosynostosis: An Inside View of Life Touched by the Congenital Skull Deformity.
Wiegenlieder: Lullabies — Feb. 20-21 7:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Church, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. Bedtime stories and songs performed by the Salt Lake Choral Artists. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students ages 12 and up (with ID), and $5 for children ages 4-11. Tickets are available at the door and at www.saltlakechoralartists.org.
Holy Cross Associate Gathering — Saturday, Feb. 21, 9 a.m. - noon at Holy Cross Ministries, 860 East 4500 South #204, SLC. Judge Memorial Interact Banquet — Saturday, Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Holy Family Hall, 1375 Spring Lane, SLC. This year’s international project will benefit Choice humanitarian in support of a water system for a needy Bolivian Village. The Solemnity of the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral — will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 21. Masses are at 8 a.m. and noon with the Cathedral Choir assisting. The Cathedral of the Madeleine has been a place of prayer, worship, comfort and celebration for Utah Catholics.

Salt Lake Deanery Spring Luncheon — March 7, 11 a.m. at Saint Olaf Parish, 1800 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Social begins at 11 a.m.; lunch and program at noon. Cost: $10 prior to the event; $15 at the door. Guest speaker will be Caroline Brennan, Catholic Relief Services Humanitarian Response Department senior communications officer. ‘Dead Man Walking’ talk — Tuesday, March 24, 7 p.m. at the Behnken House Westminster College, 1840 South 1300 East, SLC. Sister Helen Prejean will give a lecture on her book Dead Man Walking: an Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States. Free and open to the public.
