Alice Balan Hickman

CEDAR CITY — Alice Balan Hickman, 90, died Dec. 4. She was a member of Christ the King Parish.

Hickman was born March 25, 1917, in Ogden to John and Marie Camino Balan. She married Renae L. Hickman in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 3, 1942. They later divorced. As a child, she lived most of her life in Utah, graduating from the Sacred Heart Academy and attending Weber State College. She was employed by Mountain Bell for 32 years before retiring in 1979. She loved the mountains and spent many summers in Montana, and winters in Palm Desert for many years. She loved to play bridge and go bowling. She was the organist for many years at Christ the King Parish, and was the 1978 Woman of the Year.

She is survived by her son, John (Judi) Hickman, Cedar City; three grandsons, J. Philip Hickman, Las Vegas, Nev., Christopher B. (Kaylyn) Hickman, Springville, Utah, and Tony B. Hickman, Cedar City; three great-granddaughters, Sydney, Gracie, and Karly.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery.
