At Saint Andrew School the staff and student body seek to grow in the attitude and example of Jesus. Each year, the teachers concentrate on a monthly virtue, teaching the students its meaning and characteristics. Students are encouraged to try and practice the virtue, while not forgetting others virtues. “A Year of Virtues” began in September with focus on courtesy. October’s virtue is honesty. At the end of each month teachers submit the name of a student who best exemplifies the virtue of the month. The representatives from each class are honored at the end of the all-school mass with a certificate and small gift. Their names are posted on the main bulletin board in the school hallway. By the end of the year nine virtues will have been taught and practiced in an intentional manner and 81 students will have been recognized for their efforts to grow in the manner of Jesus.
