Ribbon cut for food bank

Taylorsville Mayor JoAnn Seghini looks on June 14 as a red ribbon is cut to celebrate the completion of the renovations of the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish Food Bank. Cutting the ribbon are Jim Frank from the Fort Union Rotary Club, Lynn A Samsel of Welfare Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Father Martin Diaz, pastor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish. Fr. Diaz said the project sets a standard of community service for feeding the poor and clothing the naked. The food bank, which has a clothing bank in the basement, is open two days a week, and was renovated with volunteer labor from local rotary clubs, the parish men's and women's organizations, and with donations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Craft-Made of West Jordan.
