Father Joseph Delka, parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish in Ogden, blesses the nativity display in the Guadalupe Garden at Give Me a Chance. The crèche originally belonged to the Sisters of St. Benedict; when they moved to Minnesota in 2013, they donated it to SHARE. However, SHARE closed its doors in November, and its members chose to give the nativity display to GMAC. The crèche, which will be lit each night between now and the Feast of the Epiphany on Jan. 6, faces Grant Street and is visible to passersby. The nativity set “is a gift to our clients, to our staff, but mostly to the community as well,” said Sr. Arthur Gordon, GMAC executive director. During the Dec. 4 blessing of the nativity display, a choir comprised of students in GMAC’s after-school programs sang Christmas carols, and Alayna Rasmusen read a poem about the Nativity. In addition, those gathered prayed for their families, for children throughout the world, for the lonely, and for world peace.
