The statue of the patron saint of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, which stood in front of the church in Midvale, was toppled by an unknown person or persons sometime in the early hours of Sept. 14. Fr. Jose Barrera, the parish administrator, said the statue was in place at 11 p.m. Sunday night, but about 8 a.m. Monday morning, a parishioner noticed the damage. The parish, which over the past month has suffered other vandalism such as broken windows, filed a police report regarding the broken statue. IC photo/Marie Mischel
