Shadman Bashir recently became vice president of the St. George Interfaith Council. Shadman, a Muslim, is Utah Tech University’s director of International Students & Scholars and leader of the local Islam followers in St. George. The council’s leadership has been “interfaith” since its beginning in 2010. Pictured are past presidents, beginning at left with the first Council president, Reverend Dr. Ralph Clingan of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Reverend Jimi Kestin of Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship became the group’s second president in 2013, followed by Pastor Joe Doherty of New Promise Lutheran Church in 2016. Rabbi Helene Ainbinder of Beit Chaverim Jewish Congregation of Greater Zion was the fourth president in 2019, before current president, Carole Drake, pastoral assistant at St. George Catholic Church, took the reins in January 2022.
