For St. Andrew School’s first-grade class service project this year, teacher Ryan Martin decided to raise money to purchase new bulletin board materials for the teachers at Saint Rose Catholic School in Santa Rosa, Calif. “Many of their classrooms were destroyed in the recent fires in the Santa Rosa area and we knew that those teachers most likely just spent a lot of their own money to make their classrooms an inviting and fun place to learn,” Martin said. “The first-grade students [at St. Andrew] want their fellow Catholic school peers to have ‘beautiful classrooms like ours’ to come back to when they are able to return to their own campus.” For the fundraising, Martin said she would match student donations up to $100 and so far, with donations from students and families alone, they have raised $202.80.
