The annual Knights of Columbus State Soccer Challenge was held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Oct. 16. Boys and girls ages 9-14 from around the state participated in this year’s skills challenge of kicking soccer balls at designated target areas within the field goal. The following first-place winners were awarded trophies by State Deputy Andy Airriess: boy’s 9-year-old – Moises Jimenez, St. Francis of Assisi Parish; boy’s 10-year-old – Juan Robles, St. Francis of Assisi Parish; girl’s 10-year-old – Samantha Peralta, St. Francis of Assisi Parish; boy’s 11-year-old – Petri Varley, St. Joseph the Worker Parish; girl’s 11-year-old – Kendra Lenhart, St. Marguerite Parish; boy’s 12-year-old – Isaac Avila, St. Marguerite Parish; girl’s 12-year-old – Kyra Hoffman, Mother Theresa of Calcutta Knights Council; boy’s 13-year-old – Juan Jimenez, St. Francis of Assisi Parish; girl’s 13-year-old – Brisa Barrios, St. Joseph the Worker Parish; boy’s 14-year-old – Alfonso Romero, St. Marguerite Parish; girl’s 14-year-old – Ana Peracta, St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Patrick Dougherty was the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge chairman.
