SALT LAKE CITY — The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has declared a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on Jan. 22, the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal in the United States. In the upcoming weeks in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, several related pro-life events will take place:

Mass for the Unborn — A five-week prayer for life began Dec. 14 and will end with a Mass for the Unborn on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. All are invited.

Pro-life Prayer Service — Friday, Jan. 19, immediately following the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. The annual multi-lingual Living Rosary for Life needs 50 people to make a living rosary. For information or to register a group, call 801-621-7961 or 801-898-3821.

March for Life — Prolifeutah.org will host the March for Life, which protests abortion, on Saturday, Jan. 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at Washington Square, 450 South 200 East, SLC. Rod Arquette will be the guest emcee; Dr. Kathi Aultman will be the guest speaker. Jessie Funk will perform. For information, visit March4LifeUtah.org.

Diocesan Rosary for Life — Sunday, Jan. 21, 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U St., SLC, in front of the Monument for the Unborn. The Diocese of Salt Lake City sponsors this bilingual event. In case of inclement weather, the location will be inside the mausoleum.

Diocesan Respect for the Dignity of Life workshop — Saturday, Jan. 27, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan. Cost: $20. Register at https://www.dioslc.org/about-us/diocese-calendar/respect-life/40-respect-for-the-dignity-of-life.
