Patricia Amelia Motichka Parkes, 80, of north Ogden, passed away Oct. 18, 2018 of lung cancer. She was born on February 3, 1938 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Patricia was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Kaumo) Motichka.

 Patricia graduated from Rock Springs High School. She then received training in medical records and medical information systems from Saint Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden. She relocated to Seattle, Washington, where she was employed at a local hospital. Patricia later returned to Ogden, where she returned to work at Saint Benedict’s Hospital. She was then employed at Hill Air Force Base Hospital as the administrative director of medical records and information. After 23 years of dedicated service, Patricia retired from the 75th Medical Group, Hill Air Force Base.

Patricia married Brian Parkes of Ogden on August 21, 1965. They remained in Ogden, where they raised their two children. Patricia enjoyed fishing, golfing, all kinds of puzzles and games, and going to Wendover. Her all-time favorite thing was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Brian; her two daughters, Debbie (Shannon) Wiedrich and Jeanine (Tim) Higgs; and three grandchildren, Amanda Marie Higgs, Brian Joseph Higgs and Braden Patrick Wiedrich. She is also survived by three siblings, Susan Marie (John) Maffoni, George David Motichka, and Therese Ann (Jeff) Kiesau. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Michalene Jo “Mickie” Keaton and Kathleen Mae McNutt.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 27 at Leavitt’s Mortuary Aultorest Memorial Park. Donations may be made in Patricia’s honor to Saint Joseph Catholic Schools in Ogden.
