Parish Festivals Around the Diocese

Parish festivals are a summer tradition at many Catholic churches in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, giving the community a chance to gather for socializing, fun and food. As the summer gets under way, here are a few to be placed on the calendar.

Parish Unity Festival

St. Joseph the Worker Parish’s Unity Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 23. The parish will be celebrating the different cultures within its community with food and entertainment representing their  diversity. The day will begin with a car show at 10 a.m. Food and entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. and continue to 9 p.m.  Mass will be celebrated outside under the tent at 5 p.m. The event will be at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan.

Days of Yore Festival

Saint Thomas More Parish’s annual Days of Yore Festival will be Saturday, June 23  from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Entertainment will include live bands, a Teen Stomp, food, kids’ activities and fly fishing instruction. Food will include BBQ, bratwurst and hamburgers; adult beverages will be available as well as non-alcoholic drinks. The festival will be at Saint Thomas More Parish, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy.

Saints Peter and Paul Fall Festival

Saints Peter and Paul Parish will celebrate its Fall Festival on Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the parish, 3560 West 3650 South, West Valley City.

Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Festival

St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish’s  Festival will be Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the parish, 624 W. Lennox St. Midvale.

Carmelite Fair

The annual Carmelite Fair to support the nuns is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 5714 Holladay Blvd., Holladay.

St. Jude’s Day Celebration

St. Jude Maronite Parish’s annual Day Celebration will be Saturday, Sept. 29, with the dinner and dance from 7 p.m. to midnight at St. Vincent de Paul Church’s Holy Family Hall, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City.

Saint Rose of Lima Community Festival and Car Show

The Saint Rose of Lima Community Festival and Car Show will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to  8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  at the church, 210 S. Chapel Street, Layton.
