Several parishes and missions in the Diocese of Salt Lake City will receive new pastors or administrators on Aug. 1. Here is a brief introduction to those who will take the assignments.
Father Arokia Dass David
Father Arokia Dass David was born in Paramakudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He attended Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Pannur, then went on to Loyola College in Chennai, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English literature. While attending Sacred Heart Seminary in Chennai, he also received a master’s degree in Christian studies.
He was ordained a priest on April 26, 2009 by the Right Rev. Dr. A Neethinathan for the Diocese of Chingleput. For four years he served various ministries in the Chingleput diocese, including as vice rector and secretary to the bishop.
In 2013 he arrived in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, where he has served as parochial vicar at the parishes of St. Patrick, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Sts. Peter and Paul and St. George. On Aug. 1 he will assume his duties as administrator of St. Helen Parish in Roosevelt and its associated missions.
"I want to do God's will and that's all," he said.
