SALT LAKE CITY — Your Excellency, Bishop Niederauer,

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your appointment as Archbishop of San Francisco. You have been a great spiritual leader, and it is easy to see why you were selected for this position. The 11 years you have been with us have gone by so fast. You have become much more than just a spiritual leader to us. Not only are you a brother knight, you have become a dear friend. Your guidance has kept the knights in Utah focused and on the right track. We thank you for the support you have given us and the confidence you have shown in us. We appreciate you allowing us to assist in the diocesan projects of distributing the anti-abortion prayer cards and gaining the signatures on the anti-pornography petition. We’ve enjoyed the dinners we have shared with you, your sense of humor, your inspirational talks at our meetings and your wonderful homilies that were always down to earth and seemed like they were meant for each one of us. Although we are sad to see you go, be assured that our love and our prayers for your success go with you.

Your brother knights and friends,

James N. Leccia, John P. Wainscott, Joseph B. Ligori, Charles E. Dover, Jr., David B. Ruffini, Robert E. Smith, Dennis M. Yoggerst, and Richard A. Kane, Jr.
