Joyce Shaugnessy Ravarino

SALT LAKE CITY — Joyce Shaugnessy Ravarino died Aug. 4. She was a member of St. Ambrose Parish.

Ravarino graduated from Ogden High School and Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in San Diego as a nurse during World War II. She married Angelo J. Ravarino, Jr., June 8, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. They had six children. In 1965, she was named Catholic Mother of the Year thanks to the information furnished by her youngest son, Jim. She cared for her son, Michael, after he was injured in 1969 until 1993.

She was a member of the Catholic Woman’s League, Hibernian Society, and the 49ers Club at St. Ambrose Parish. She loved her flowers, pets, playing bridge with her friends, and all things Irish. Ravarino was blessed with a little extra time before her death to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Ravarino is survived by her children, Dan (Carol), John (Pat), Jim (Mary), Mary Kay (Todd) Erickson, and Carol

(Jim) Wilcox; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren

A funeral Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
