Fall carnival helps St. Anthony Parish meet expenses

Friday, Nov. 10, 2006

HELPER — There was enough enthusiasm to fill three parish halls Nov. 4, the last day of St. Anthony of Padua Parish’s three-day Fall Carnival. Walking up one flight of stairs in the parish religious education building, to the gym, parishioners, neighbors, and Helper townspeople found a host of booths, games, and goodies to eat.

The annual carnival is a major fund raiser for the parish, and helps support its programs and its outreach to the poor in the Helper area.

Although many of the games were directed toward children, adults weren’t left out. There was plenty of room to sit and chat over hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and Polish sausages.

There was a car to be won, a quilt to be claimed, and religious goods to be purchased. There was even a booth offering seasonal crafts – Christmas decorations for the home.
