May 8, 1925 ~ Aug. 1, 2017
The hills are alive with the sound of music for Elizabeth’s journey home. Elisabeth Gloria Rubino was born a twin on May 8, 1925, to Albert and Ida Shaer in Bolzano, Italy.
The family traveled through the Alps of northern Italy, settling in Salzburg, Austria, where Lisa spent her youth educating herself in a cosmetology program and becoming a professional hairstylist.
At the end of World War II, this beautiful lady met the love of her life, a handsome American soldier, Phillip Rubino. They were married in St. Peter’s Cathedral in Salzburg.
1950 brought Lisa and Phil to the United States, to Phil’s hometown of Boston, Mass.
Through the years they traveled with the military to many places, finally settling in Ogden, Utah.
Lisa was an outstanding cook, sharing her talents at the Defense Depot Ogden Officers’ Club. As the head cook, she specialized in Italian and German cuisine. This was carried on for the enjoyment of her family, who continues the traditions of her special dishes: lasagna, wiener schnitzel, and her exquisite apple strudel.
Phil and Lisa were married 69 years prior to his passing in 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil; and son, Steven. She is survived by her children, Gloria (Craig) and Marc (Tammy).
She lived her 92 years loving and enjoying her 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Special thank you to Carolina, her best friend, who encouraged Lisa the last year and last moments of her life.
