July 3, 1953 - Aug. 14, 2017

Elaine Marie (Chaisson) Jaillet, 64, of Pleasant View, passed away on Aug. 14, 2017. She was born in Athol, Mass. on July 3, 1953 to Raymond J. Chaisson and Cecelia A. Gelinas. Elaine graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1971 and went on to receive her associate’s degree from Mount Wachusetts Community College in 1973. She married Richard Jaillet on Aug. 30, 1974 and was a loving mother for their two children, Nicole and Mark.

Elaine was best known among her family and friends for her generosity, reliability and creativity. Diagnosed with Type 1 “Juvenile” diabetes at the age of 13, Elaine exemplified living a healthy lifestyle. For many years, she organized the “Jaillet Family Walk Team,” participating in the Reno, Nev. “Walk to Find a Cure” to raise funds in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Elaine served as an active member of the PEO Sisterhood – Chapter P since 2011, where she provided leadership in coordinating the organization’s signature fundraising event for several years.

An avid hiker, Elaine and her husband shared a love for exploring the national parks, where they found a closeness to nature. She also enjoyed the serenity of kayaking, particularly at Causey Reservoir in northern Utah.

Elaine had an appreciation for photography and had a good eye for capturing a moment or a scene. When at home she could most likely be found in front of her sewing machine, or engaged in a craft project or tending to her meticulously kept garden.

Most importantly, Elaine was a proud grandma and devoted much of her time to her grandchildren, finding ways to be engaged in their lives that was personal and unique to each of them.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond J. Chaisson, and brother Darryl Chaisson.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Jaillet; daughter Nicole Moon and her husband Jason of Gilbert, Ariz., and son Mark Jaillet and his wife Jolene of Reno, Nev. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Andrew Moon, Hunter Moon, Nathan Jaillet, Leslie Jaillet and Matthew Moon; as well as her mother, Cecelia Shaughnessy and her husband Laurence of Clearwater, Fla.; and siblings Michael Chaisson and his wife Susan of Milford, Mass., Steve Chaisson and his wife Anna of Manchester, N.H., Mary Chaisson of Lawrenceville, N.J., Cary Chaisson and his wife Doreen of Raymond, N.H.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her wonderful spirit, joy and talents were celebrated at Saint James the Just Catholic Church on Aug. 19.

The family requests donations be made in her name to the PEO Sisterhood – Chapter P (Ogden) or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com.
