Pastoral Center Closed — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will reopen Monday, Dec. 2, at 8:30 a.m.

Blessing of the Advent Wreaths — Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Bring your Advent wreaths for use at home for a blessing. The blessing will be in English at the 5 p.m. Mass and in Spanish at the 7 p.m. Mass.

Advent Vespers Procession: From Darkness to Light — Sunday, Dec. 1, 5 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Vespers and procession with the Cathedral Choir. Join the choir in candlelight as it moves to the East through the cathedral with chants, carols, choral music and readings.

Mass at Our Lady of the Snows — The celebration of the Eucharist on Sundays will resume at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel in Alta on Sunday, Dec. 1 and will continue through the end of April.  Mass is at 5 p.m. The chapel is located directly across from the Alta Lodge. Mass on Christmas and Easter will be at 10 a.m.

Communal Penance Service — Monday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. With Bishop Oscar A. Solis and several priests. The service will begin with a reflective Liturgy of the Word followed by individual Confession and absolution.

Msgr. Benvegnu Lecture — Monday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m. “Saints Were People Too” at St. Vincent Parish Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. Fr. John Norman, pastor, will examine the lives of a number of saints to gain insight into each of their faith responses regarding vocation and discernment. Free and open to the public.

 First Friday Mass and Rosary — Hosted by the Catholic Woman’s League. Friday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. Followed by a catered breakfast in the Benvegnu Center. Cost: $12.20. To participate in the group’s annual cookie exchange, bring two dozen of your favorite cookies. The Cathedral Family Series Event — Friday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m.  Family holiday ornament making at 9 a.m. at the Madeleine Choir School, 205 E. 1st Ave., SLC. Followed at 10 a.m. with a carol sing in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, with the school’s choristers and a story from St. Nicholas!

St. Francis of Assisi Parish Game Night — Friday, Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 65 East 500 North, Orem. Cost: $14. Dinner at 6:30 p.m.; games start at 7 p.m. Come out and have an enjoyable evening and a great meal.

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary — this year is transferred to Monday, Dec. 9 because Dec. 8 is the Second Sunday of Advent. The obligation to attend Mass, however, does not transfer. The optional memorial of St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, Dec. 9, is omitted this year.

St. Ann Parish Bell Choir Concert — Friday, Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 500 East 2100 South, SLC. Free; everyone welcome.

Brass and Organ Christmas Concert — Sunday Dec. 15, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Featuring the brass section of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and cathedral organist Gabriele Terrone. Free and open to the public.
