Vocations Night — Monday, Nov. 19, 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. For students in grades three through high school. Various priests and religious will give their vocation stories and answer questions. Free.

Pastoral Center Closed — For the Thanksgiving holiday, the Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will be closed Nov. 21 at noon and reopen Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m. Happy Thanksgiving!

Diocesan Advent Retreat —Saturday, Dec. 1 at St. John the Baptist Parish, 300 East, 11800 South, Draper. English Session: 8:30-11 a.m. with Fr. John Norman, pastor of Saint Vincent de Paul Parish. Vigil for First Sunday of Advent – Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center, 170 University St., SLC.  The night will consist of Adoration, the prayer of the psalms, meditation on ancient Advent readings, and 6th-century Byzantine chant “Akathist to the Theotokos.” All are invited.

Mass at Our Lady of the Snows — The celebration of the Sunday Eucharist will resume at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel beginning Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. Alta. The chapel is located directly across from the Alta Lodge and below the Alta City offices. Mass will continue throughout the ski season, ending in April. Mass on Christmas and Easter will be at 10 a.m.

Advent Parish Mission — Dec. 2-6 at St. Martin de Porres Parish, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville. The Family Eucharistic Crusade, led by Fr. Louis Guardiola, will kick off Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Conferences will be Monday through Thursday at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mass, Adoration of The Blessed Sacrament and Confession daily. Lighting of the Nativity Display — Monday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m. in Give Me A Chance’s Guadalupe Garden, 2913 Grant Ave., Ogden. Includes Christmas carols, hot cocoa and cookies. All are welcome.

Cathedral Family Series Christmas Family Day — Thursday, Dec. 6. Holiday ornament making at 11:30 a.m.; carol sing and story from St. Nicholas at 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeline, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Free and open to the public.

Winter Music Concert — Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Judge Memorial CHS auditorium, 650 South 1100 East, SLC. The concert will highlight Judge Memorial students in concert choir, concert band, chamber orchestra, and jazz band. Free.

Holy Day of Obligation — Saturday, Dec. 8, for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Check your parish for Mass times. It may be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 7, after 4 p.m. as the vigil Mass or on Saturday, Dec. 8 before 4 p.m. as the Mass during the Day. Saturday Mass celebrated after 4 p.m. on Dec. 8 is the vigil Mass for the Second Sunday of Advent.  All Masses celebrated on Sunday, Dec. 9 are Masses during the day for the Second Sunday of Advent.

Southwestern Deanery Marian Youth Day — Saturday, Dec. 8, 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Parish, 690 S. Cove Dr. Cedar City. The feast of the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated with the youth in southern Utah with “Mary: The Yes That Changed the World.” Activities, prayer, music, and the Eucharist. “Try prayer! It works!” Contest — Family Rosary’s 2019 “try prayer! It works!” contest encourages children to express their beliefs through art, poetry, prose and a new category this year: video. The competition is open to students in grades K-12 enrolled in a Catholic school, religious education program, parish or other organization, including home school. This year’s theme is “Mary, Mother of the Church.” The first-place winner in each category receives $100; the sponsor of each winner also receives $100.
