Prayer for Vocations — A special 40-hour period of prayer made before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition with a special emphasis for vocations is underway in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Each parish in the diocese is scheduled to have one week of this special devotion during the year. Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 2840 South 9000 West, Magna, will host 40 Hours of Devotion for vocations Feb. 3-5, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. 

Luke Live presentation — by Paulist Father James DiLuzio. Feb. 2-4 with sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel St., Layton. Each day will focus on two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. The morning and evening sessions will cover the same material. Free, open to the public, suitable for children.

Special Olympics Dinner — hosted by Knights of Columbus Council 2636, Friday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. social; 7 p.m. dinner, at Salt Lake Eagles Aerie #67, 1104 West 2100 South, SLC. Choose from 12-ounce rib eye, 8-ounce halibut or vegetarian Italian plate. Entertainment by Walt Gregory. Cost: $25/person or $50/couple. Open to all; seating is limited. Mardi Gras — fundraiser by Saint Ambrose Parish and J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School. Friday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown, 75 S. West Temple. For tickets or information, visit cosgriff.org.

Nocturnal Adoration for Vocations — Friday, Feb. 6 beginning at 9 p.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church in West Haven and going to the Saturday, 8 a.m. Communion Service. For information, call 801-898-3821.

Bingo Game Night — Saturday, Feb. 7, 7 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church’s social hall, 670 South 1100 East, SLC. Cost $14 for bingo games; Mexican dinner $4.

Mardi Gras Celebration — by the Saint Joseph CHS Boosters, Saturday, Feb. 7, 6  p.m. in the Black Box Theater on the school campus, 1790 Lake St., Ogden. Live music, casino games, dancing and food. Cirque du St. Vincent’s Auction — Saturday, Feb. 7, at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. Big Top theme for a night of dinner, drinks and auctions to raise funds for the school. Tickets are $80. RSVP by Feb. 2.

Year of Consecrated Life Mass — Sunday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Bishop John C. Wester will celebrate a Mass in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life.

Pilgrimage Open House — Open House to discuss the details of the July 14-30 trip to Ireland with Father Patrick Carley. Details available at www.stjoseph-wj.org. The open house on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. in the St. Joseph the Worker Parish hall, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, will provide more information.

Eccles Organ Festival — Sunday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. With a recital by Vincent Dubois, the program includes music by Bach, Mozart, Saint-Saens, Dupré and improvisations.

Healing Mass — for anyone facing surgery, living with the difficulties of illness or frailty of old age.  Wednesday, Feb. 11, 3 p.m., at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy.

Queen of Hearts Masquerade Ball — Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Saint John the Baptist Elementary School multi-purpose room. Improv Comedy — Saturday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m. The improv comedy troupe Quick Wits will perform a fundraiser for the Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish building fund. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 each or $20 per family. The fundraiser will be at the parish, 624 W. Lennox St., Midvale. 

Aquinas Institute Speaker — Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Evans Black Box Theatre, Saint Joseph Catholic High School, 1790 Lake Street, Ogden. Kase D. Johnstun will present and preform a reading of “Beyond the Grip of Craniosynostosis: An Inside View of Life Touched by the Congenital Skull Deformity.”

Wiegenlieder: Lullabies — Feb. 20-21 7:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Church, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. Bedtime stories and songs performed by the Salt Lake Choral Artists. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students ages 12 and up (with ID), and $5 for children ages 4-11. Tickets are available at the door and at www.saltlakechoralartists.org.
