SALT LAKE CITY – A student’s compelling essay about the support of his teachers earned a full-ride scholarship granted by the 2009 Utah Teacher of the Year.
Clayton Rackham, a Judge Memorial Catholic High School graduate, was selected as the recipient of a full scholarship at the University of Phoenix, where he began classes this fall.

SALT LAKE CITY — During the past 25 years, a foundation for the financial future of the Catholic Church in Utah has been laid down through permanent endowments that benefit everything from specific parishes to student scholarships to charity care at Christus St. Joseph Villa. Anyone can give any amount to existing charities, but family named endowments begin at $10,000, with no upper limit.

PARK CITY – One, two, three. A, B, C. Numbers and letters that form the basis of education now are being offered to 4-year-olds from non-English speaking homes by Holy Cross Ministries through the Holy Cross Readiness Program.
This is the first year for the program, which serves 20 children in each of the two sessions that are given through the day.
Emphasis is on literacy, numeracy, English language and classroom skills needed for a successful start in kindergarten

OGDEN — Daughter of Charity Sister Maria Nguyen created a sewing center called Give Me a Chance, to teach women a skill so they can earn a living. After 40 hours of training, they not only learned to sew, they also gained self-confidence and a higher self-esteem.
